Available Positions - face to face with young people and supporting

York Minster District Scouts are currently looking for adults from all walks of life to support us. Email volunteer@yorkminsterscouts.org.uk

Not all roles are face-to-face with young people; we also need trustees, drivers, tea makers, grass cutters, fundraisers, project managers, marketing and communication, help with training and admin and many more roles to support our leaders and assistants, who are delivering our various Scouting programmes across the district.

That’s not to say that we don’t need people to work directly with young people; we do.

Whether you can spare a couple of hours every week, the odd hour here and there or adhoc for specific events/projects, we want to hear from you.

You can share your current skills and/or learn some new ones, whilst making a difference in the development of young people?

We are seeing an increased demand from young people; you really can make a difference - the young people we work with range from 4 to 25, and volunteering has been proven to be #GoodForYou

Section Team Leader or Section Team Member

WANT TO HELP OTHERS? WANT TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK? GET INTO SCOUTING

We are changing the way we deliver Scouting and have embraced a team approach so rather than individuals being given specific responsibilities, we work together in teams to achieve our objectives.  These roles work directly with young people.

You choose how involved or adventurous you'd like to be.  Are you happy to contribute as part of a team or would you like to lead a team?  Would you like the chance to camp, canoe, climb, support community projects or get involved in crafts; while meeting new people, having fun and making a positive difference to young people.

We need more fun, committed adults to support young people, helping run games and activities as part of weekly meetings. Working in a small team, you will help to plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, helping them achieve badges and awards.  Enthusiasm, an empathy with young people and a sense of humour are a must. We can teach you the rest. We’ll support you all the way and ensure you get the training and any help you need.

Fundraiser

CAN YOU HELP FUND A FUTURE?

Are you fizzing with fundraising ideas? Are you equally at home organising a cake sale as a sponsored Digital Detox? Then we need your energy and initiative to help us.

York Minster District Scouts now need a District fundraiser to help support our activities and improve our facilities. Raising extra funds means we can provide a wider range of exciting opportunities to our young people.

With experience of organising fundraising appeals, you won’t be afraid to get stuck in with anything from a car wash to helping a sponsored triathlon go swimmingly!

No specific time commitment is required and the role is flexible enough to fit around you. We'll provide full support and training, a sociable network, plus it all looks great on your CV.

Scouting offers fun, friendship and life changing adventure to over 500,000 young people across the UK. But this is only made possible by talented teams of local volunteers like you.
